The WGPR team would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

We are proud to announce that the WGPR family has gained a couple new members lately. We would like to formally introduce our awesome marketing & PR superstar, Anna Gilligan, and amazing intern, Megan Ludzenski.

We are so excited to have you two on our team and we can’t wait to see what wonderful things you do. Welcome to the team!

One of the Wellington Group Marketing & PR core values is “laugh hard, work hard,” and boy do we live up to it. Our office is a tight-knit group of individuals with quirky personalities and passionate spirits. Our team is incredibly unique, and we want to invite you to see a little behind the scenes of what it’s like to be surrounded with so many strong-willed and impressive individuals.

Our next team member to introduce to you is Rachel, our fearless senior account executive. Rachel is described as friendly, thoughtful, tenacious and smart by the rest of the WGPR team. Organized and always smiling, we can always count on Rachel to keep us all in line! So, without further ado, we introduce:

Rachel Hoffman

What is your favorite animal? ELEPHANTS!

What’s your favorite color? Turquoise

What’s your favorite book? The Great Gatsby

What’s your favorite movie? Anyone who knows me will know that my favorite movie of all time is Back To The Future….

What’s your favorite TV show? I think my favorite TV show of all time would have to be The O.C. But since I’m no longer in high school, my favorite current TV show is Mr. Robot. But I will have no shame in saying that I’m a huge sucker for the Real Housewives franchise….

What is your favorite song? This is tough! Let me first start by saying my favorite band is The White Stripes. A close second would be Mac DeMarco because I’ve been obsessed with him ever since I saw him at ACL. But after careful consideration, neither of those artists sing my favorite song. That top spot will most definitely have to go to The Cure’s Just Like Heaven because anytime that song comes on I immediately start dancing.

What is your favorite food? Migas breakfast tacos, chips and queso, chiliquiles, chocolate chip cookies, funfetti cupcakes #fat

What is your favorite outdoor activity? Last summer, my wonderful boyfriend Michael and I would go to Barton Springs one night a week for Night Swim. It was awesome and I plan to do it again this year. Besides that, I love a good BBQ family cookout or crawfish boil!

What is your favorite form of exercise? Running and yoga

What is your favorite time of year? Sweet, sweet summertime

At what age did you become an adult? I don’t think I truly felt like an adult until I started paying rent and bills on my own. This started at the age of 23, which is probably why that entire year I kept singing, “Nobody likes you when your twentyyyyy three” (Blink 182’s What’s My Age Again?).

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be? Summer Roberts from The OC because she gets to marry Seth Cohen and that’s all I ever wanted in life…

If you won the lottery, what would you spend it on? A European vacation to share with my boyfriend and best friends!

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? BEYONCE, Jack White, John Lennon, Shia LaBeouf or Stevie Nicks.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? I’ve been told that I am a very good teacher/explainer, which truly means a lot to me since I sometimes feel like I talk in circles and ramble… as this questionnaire showcases.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? I’d go back to Barcelona or London in a heartbeat. Paella and fish & chips? Yes please.

Favorite sports teams? *If applicable The Houston Texans are my team, although they keep letting me down. And I’ll give our Longhorns a shout too. Texas, Texas Yeehaw!

What is the best gift you’ve ever received? I still remember the day my dad surprised me with tickets to see The Spice Girls. I was like 8 years old and the concert was on a school night. Needless to say, I felt extremely cool the next day. More recently, my mom surprised me with Taylor Swift tickets and yet again, I felt extremely cool the next day.

How would you describe your personal style? My style changes daily! Some days you’ll see me in bright colors and patterns and other days you’ll see me in all black. I love a good wedge but other times I just want to wear a pair of chucks. And while I don’t really showcase it at work, I LOVE wearing lipstick. And tons of rings.

One of the traits of a good public relations pro is being flexible and prepared for whatever the day throws at you. We are constantly on the move and trying to wow clients through service. The contents of our workbags reflect just that – ever ready and on-the-move. Of course our bags are filled with planners and magazines!

Today we are taking a look into what Marketing & PR Jedi Sarah keeps in her bag:

What do you keep in your bag?

Here at Wellington Group Marketing & PR, we’ve got core values that we live out each and every day. When we find ourselves in a pickle and we don’t know what to do, we look to our values to point us in the right direction. With a mission to help entrepreneurs grow their companies, drive revenue and sleep better at night, we work hard everyday to reach goals and we do this by focusing on our values. Having a set of values that encourages teamwork, service, honesty and laughter is what gets us moving and excited to serve our awesome list of clients. Read on to find out what each of our values mean and how we practice them each day.

Laugh Hard, Work Hard

It’s no surprise we are a silly bunch who enjoys taking a break to have a good laugh. We work hard everyday serving our clients, but every now and then we take a few minutes to share funny stories and just enjoy each other’s company. Not convinced yet, just check out our love for dancing chickens, laughing cows and Patrick Swayze (skip to 2:47).

Yes, and… Attitude

When asked to take on a task, we respond with “Yes, and what else can I do?” This “yes, and…” attitude encourages collaboration, brainstorming and innovation. We’ve taken it a step further and even had pillows designed with our special core value embodied on them. It serves as a gentle reminder to always ask ourselves what else we can be doing for our clients.

Wow Through Service

Wowing our clients through our talents and services is what we do best. We set high goals and expectations in order to exceed expectations. We want each and every person on our awesome team to see that we talk the talk and walk the walk.

Team-Focused and Team-Driven

We serve our clients as a team, not as individuals. There is never just one of us working to reach a client’s goal. We do it as a team and we like it that way. Being team-focused and team-driven is the reason we get such awesome results! Behold the power of we!

Lovingly Honest

This is our newest core value and we think it’s great! If we see something that isn’t quite right, we let each other and our clients know in a manner that is respectful and loving. There’s never a reason to be harsh.

What are some of your favorite core values? We’d love to know! Leave us a comment below.

We are currently seeking to expand our team of superstars. We are looking for candidates that have a “yes, and…” attitude, a passion for growing companies, love to laugh and are a fan of fitness and lifestyle products and services. Interested candidates should be team-focused, team-driven and want to wow our customers through their talents and services.

If you meet the criteria above and are interested in an account executive position or an internship for the fall – let’s chat.

From skydiving to taking a trip to Europe, bucket lists are complete with goals that push us to live life to the fullest. Here at Wellington Group Marketing & PR, everyone in our office has their own personal bucket list, and we’re always encouraging each other to start crossing it off. In addition to our individual bucket lists, we recently got to thinking about how motivating it would be to create a PR bucket list complete with goals that we’d LOVE to meet as a team. Sharing our professional goals and dreams has taught us so much about each other and why we are in this profession in the first place. If you haven’t created a professional bucket list, we highly encourage you to do so ASAP. In the meantime, here is our PR bucket list for a little inspiration!

We’d love to hear what you put on your professional bucket list. Leave us a comment below and tell us more about it!

Two years and two promotions! You continuously WOW us (and our clients) by your service. Congratulations on your promotion to SAE, Rachel. It’s well deserved. We are so happy to have you on our team. Beyonce would be proud!

We are proud to have a team of clients that we also consider friends. Last week, we were able to go and visit our Villa de Patos friends at their ranch in General Cepeda, Coahulia, just outside of Monterrey. We’ve always believed that Villa de Patos’ Maguey Sap was heavenly, but now we realize that the sweet concoction is the perfect embodiment of its surroundings.

It wouldn’t be an authentic Villa de Patos experience if we weren’t stuffing our faces with delicious and authentic Mexican food. Gathering around the table with the Villa de Patos team felt like a scene out of a movie. A room full of laughter and a table full of guacamole – in our opinion there is no better way to spend an evening.

We’ve always been fascinated by the Maguey Sap process. The liquid is extracted from this beautiful desert plant by Tlachiqueros. We were able to watch the Tlachiqueros in action as the Maguey Sap was removed from the plant. The liquid is then gently heated and then evaporated until it becomes the Maguey Sap that we all know, love and smother our pancakes in.

The one thing we didn’t get to see while on our trip was the actual Villa de Patos branded stores that sell a variety of products that come from the ranch. The stores feature a variety of other products, ranging from cheese, nuts, milk and even tequila! The stores are sure to be on our list of things to do the next time we are in General Cepeda!

We had a wonderful experience at the ranch and can’t wait until we get to visit again! To learn more about Villa de Patos, check out this awesome process video.

Have you ever tried Villa de Patos’ Maguey Sap or Maguey Waters? Let us know what you thought in the comments!

She truly is our marketing & PR machine. Not to mention, she’s stylish too – we can’t get enough of her adorable red rain boots or abundance of Kate Spade jewelry. So, without further ado, we introduce:

What is your favorite animal?
Probably sharks. I was obsessed with them as a kid and they’re still pretty fascinating to me.

What’s your favorite color?
Blue – any shade

What’s your favorite book?
So many to choose from! I’m a Jane Austen dork and a Potterhead, with those excluded – I would have to say Three Cups of Tea and Let’s Pretend This Never Happened.

What’s your favorite movie?
Don’t judge me…
Ever After with Drew Barrymore and Anjelica Houston. My dad used to take me to rent a movie after my ballet class when I was little and 9 times out of 10 it was this movie. “Then I shall have to make you wings.”

What’s your favorite TV show?
Ugh, I can’t choose just one. I’m a Sons of Anarchy, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones and Gilmore Girls kind of girl.

What is your favorite song?
Stepping Out Queen Part 2 by Van Morrison. I don’t know what it is about this song but it makes me feel all the feelings.

What is your favorite food?
I’m a traditional Texan so you can’t go wrong with chicken fried steak or brisket. Macaroni and cheese is an obvious “must.”

What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Tubing the San Marcos River!

What is your favorite form of exercise?
I feel at home in a weight room and moderately enjoy running when I get the initial feeling of dying out of the way.

What is your favorite time of year?
Fall! Bonfires, football, boots, Halloween movies and hoodies.

At what age did you become an adult?
I’ve always been rather grown up – channeling my inner Eloise. But in all seriousness, I’ve always fit in more with people older than me and had no interest in kids when I was one.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
Either Jessica Day from New Girl, Indiana Jones or Hermione Granger.

If you won the lottery, what would you spend it on?
I’d invest in real estate and travel. The wanderlust struggle is real.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
Julie Andrews, Maggie Smith, Alexander Skarsgard, Jimmy Buffett and J.J. Watt.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
My friend Luke once told me I’d be a great mom one day, totally out of the blue. It was really genuine and it deeply resonated with me.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
England – absolutely. I have a long list of places to go but that has been my top since birth.

What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
My Nanny Pat gave me a gorgeous blue necklace that was HER GRANDMOTHER’S from the turn of the century!

How would you describe your personal style?
My style is either: classically southern with button-downs, pearls and jeans or “that girl at the sports bar” with a tee shirt, sweat pants and a messy ponytail.

It’s hard to believe, but summertime in Austin has begun. This means the temperature is hot, hot, hot, but the team at Wellington Group Marketing & PR doesn’t let that keep them from getting out and having a blast. Here in Austin, there are so many ways to enjoy the summer season and we are excited to share a few of our favorites with you. Whether you’re looking to be adventurous or just relaxed by the water, we’re sure you will enjoy these five summery things to do in Austin!

Sno-Beach – When the heat gets to be too much, it’s time for a trip to the best snow-cone stand in Austin, Sno-Beach. Sno-Beach’s snow cones are like no other. The best way we know how to describe it is that it’s like eating a cloud – a very yummy cloud! If you become overwhelmed by the plethora of flavors, we recommend getting a strawberry and cream snow cone. It will change your life!

Zilker Summer Musical – If you’ve never made it to a Zilker Summer Musical, you definitely need to make it a priority this year! Pack a picnic and enjoy a summer evening by watching a show under the stars. This summer’s musical is Hairspraya fun and high-energy musical that is sure to leave the audience dancing on their feet.

Barton Springs – By the time July comes around, swimming pools in Austin are practically hot tubs. This is why Austinites flee to Barton Springs. It’s a natural spring, which means the water is about 68-70 degrees all year round. Trust us, Barton Springs is the body of water you want to be in when the temperatures rise!

Kayak On Lady Bird Lake – On the days you’re feeling a little adventurous, we recommend kayaking on Lady Bird Lake. The view of the downtown skyline is unbeatable. If you don’t have a kayak, The Rowing Dock will hook you up with everything you need – you can even rent a stand up paddleboard!

Here in Austin we are already getting a taste of the heat, which means summer is on its way! There is so much to do, from taking a dip in Barton Springs to waiting in line at Sno-Beach for a delicious snow cone. We absolutely love our city, but sometimes it’s fun to explore new territory without breaking the bank. While planning a tropical getaway sounds amazing right about now, there simply isn’t room in our budgets. Here are a few day trips not too far from Austin for you to enjoy during your staycation.

  1. Fredricksburg – If you’re looking for a mini road-trip then Fredricksburg is the trip for you! Spend your day in the Texas Hill Country enjoying wineries, boutiques and gourmet restaurants. If you’re looking to be even more adventurous, spend half the day exploring Enchanted Rock. We promise you won’t regret it. We don’t know what will take your breath away more, the climb up the pink granite dome, or the view from the top.
  2. Salado – Salado is a little town just past Georgetown that we promise you’ll love. Known as the best art town in Texas, it’s got tons of quirky little shops and eclectic restaurants to back up that reputation. Take a day to enjoy all that Main Street has to offer.
  3. San Marcos – When in San Marvelous do as the San Martians do! That means chowing down on ribs at Tap Room before spending an afternoon on the crystal clear waters that run through the beautiful Texas State Once your float is over we recommend hitting the outlets for some great shopping. If shopping’s not your thing you can’t go wrong with a Glass Bottom Boat Tour at the Meadows Center.
  4. Dripping Springs – Gateway to the Hill Country is their slogan and driving through it you understand why. Hamilton Pool, a spectacular natural grotto, is one of the best swimming holes in the state. We suggest getting there early to beat the wait time. The Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center is another great way to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Dripping Springs. Bring the family for a guided tour of the canyon, just note that tours are only available on the weekend.
  5. New Braunfels –Ah, New Braunfels, home of Schlitterbahn, the country’s number one waterpark. There’s something for everyone on this 65-acre waterpark. If you’re tired of the water you can explore the largest caverns in Texas at Natural Bridge Caverns or go on a safari at Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. Before you head back to Austin make sure to eat your weight in German food at Oma’s Haus.

Staying organized at work can be a challenge, especially when you’re working in the marketing and public relations industries. Everyday something new comes up, and you have to completely re-think your schedule and update your planner (we are nothing without our planners!) Good news is – we thrive on the nature of our industry. As PR ladies, we are pros at accepting change and quickly reorganizing our schedule to get the priorities done. So how do we stay organized each day? Read on for some of our secrets!

  • Tidy up: Keeping your desk tidy is the first step to staying organized at work. A clean desk without distractions and clutter will help you focus on the task ahead. If you have trouble keeping your workspace clean and neat, just take five minutes everyday to tidy up. Trust us, you will be way more relaxed throughout your day.
  • Create your to-do list at the end of each day: That’s right. Before you leave the office take some time to write down your to-dos for tomorrow. Doing so allows you to mentally prepare for tomorrow and ensure that you won’t start off the day stressed.
  • Ensure everything has its own space: Public relations has the reputation of being a hyper-organized person’s career. In our office that stereotype rings true. We obsess over folders and structure. Our emails, files and paperwork are all in correctly labeled folders and there may be color coordination involved, don’t judge. If you’re anything like us, you’ll feel much more centered when everything is where it belongs.
  • Make your space work for you: We can’t all have a corner office over looking a beautiful skyline, but we can take a few steps to make our work environment work for us. Here in our office, we despise florescent lighting. Instead, we light up our office with lamps that create an environment that keeps us calm and relaxed.
